Stephanie Dowda is a photographer living in her native city of Atlanta. Dowda believes in the transcendental nature of film and explores theories of utopia, topophilia, and connection to place in her work. Dowda’s most recent solo exhibition, Genius Loci, is on view at Institute 193 in Lexington Kentucky. In 2015, Dowda has exhibited her work in Paris, France, received an Idea Capital Award, is the 2015 IndieGrit artist resident and her work with Possible Press | Edition is on view at the exhibition State Park, curated by Mike Calway-Fagen. Dowda is a Hambidge Fellow, Studio Artist with the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center, Cabin Time Fellow, Frontier Fellow at Epicenter, recognized as an On Our Radar artist with Creative Capital, and a 2013 Baum New American Photographer Award Nominee. Her work can be seen in Oxford American, many Atlanta-based publications including ArtsATL, BurnAway and Creative Loafing and with Bad At Sports.
